There a few people you encounter in life that have the capability to bring laughter to your surface just by their proximity. Today's guest model is one of these people.
She is warmth. It matters not where our paths cross, I am guaranteed a chuckle each time that I see her. She has a completeness about her. Not one of those "nana-nana-boo-boo I have it all together" vibes, but more of a relaxed, "I love-my-life-so-very-much" ones. Her heart stretches out to meet yours through silly giggles or the great listening she provides each time that you speak. Her words are wise & witty. Connecting with you in such a sweet way, you leave this lady's presence more delightful in both thought & spirit than before.
She has a faith deep rooted about her. Her intentions are always to lift and to care. Her home is a place were no welcome mats are needed. For the welcome comes from the very property she and her husband call theirs. Immediately you feel at home, comfortable and well served.
I was so exited when Melanie Bissell agreed to be the 2nd guest model on k.Mac's front porch of frugal fashion. We had an absolute blast shopping together before our boys' soccer games one Saturday morning.
In less an hour, Melanie and I left our local Goodwill $23 dollars lighter and 6 items heavier to create 3 different Fall looks. For those of you who haven't the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Bissell personally, I have no doubt you will be able to see inklings of the beautiful who-she-is from just these captured images.
We began with a statement piece. This baby pink jacket was such a find for just $3.99. We both loved the motorcycle collar line as well as the horizontal waistline stitching. It was fun to find a color not typical for fall and use to create outfits for this season.
- dress jeans: $2.99
- zebra heels: $3.99
Melanie added a neutral black top along with a few accessories of her own to give variation to this completed look.
An added custom designed k.Mac Fabric Corsage for a little funk and color flare.
For a more framed look, we removed the red beads and incorporated a zebra infinity scarf. This accessory kinda sets the tone for the entire ensemble. I love the boldness and personality to this look!
And we were just rockstar enough lucky to find BCBG brand gray suede heels AND red pants for our next ensemble. WHOOP! WHOOP!
- red pants: $2.99
- BCBG brand gray heels: $3.99
- gray ruffled tank: $1.99
Melanie added a pin-on flower corsage to finish this Autumnal attire. I adore the color play. Gray is such a great neutral. It's not too heavy and not too drab. And ruffles?? Come on, people. SMILE!
Finally, we found a super fun navy star tee. The print is minimal and so iconically versatile for so many times throughout the year. We opted to throw this navy print into the mix as a neutral for a classic glimpse of fall.
- navy star short sleeved tee: $2.99
She looks super great! The POP of red beads gave a little extra push for the head-to-toe framing.
Melanie Bissell is proof that a personality can complete any look. That it's not about what you wear, but who you are. She is comfortable in the skin God's loaned to her for just a little while. And it shows. I count her, right along with her family, as wonderful examples of light & love. With just $23 invested that Saturday, I gain invaluable each time spent with this beautiful soul. Thanks so much, Melanie!
