{bringing to Christmas}

bringing to christmas 450 10 days until Christmas.  Twinkling and tweaking is at an all time high.  Ornaments are cozied up to tree branches.  You've had to replace at least one string of lights. {insert swear word here} Wreathes have blown off the shutters only like 5 8 times by now.  Gifts are meeting their destination be it bag & tissue or tape & wrappings.  Christmas parties have been checked off the event lists with perhaps one or two more to attend.  Magic is in medias res.

And in the hustle of holiday, we all try.  Honest, I think, we do.  We hesitate our hurries only to hover on hope.  I can't help but think there are moments during the chaos we so often cram into Christmas where we grab it.  This hope thing.  There, interlaced into our merry fingers, we fumble our fingerprints to feel it more.

Hope.  It's heavy & then light.  It's fleeting & then forever.  Its notions manipulate our stature. It's as if we can pin point spot the moments unfolding right before us that will be the ones we will longingly look back on.  And we fight for more of those nows to be with us later.

With equal parts gratitude & get.in.the.car.we're.gonna.be.late, I have been working on the gifts I am choosing to bring to Christmas.  Why? Because the chaos of Christmas is real.  Our human race makes it so.  And as much as we try to calm this commotion, its hustle is inevitable. Christmas comes down to choice.  What will you choose to hold onto from your hurry?  What right-this-minute-moments will become your lasting laters?

This hope thing.  There, interlaced into our merry fingers, we fumble our fingerprints to feel it more.  It's heavy & then light.  And it's worth seeking. This Christmas I am choosing hope.  I am choosing nows, though they may come hurried or hairy, for my later.  I hope you are too. Please join me as I share with you the gifts I'm bringing to Christmas this week and next.
