{power & prints}

I am like a crack addict for knowledge this summer.  Learning has got "a holt" of me something fierce.  I've already devoured 2 books which are of the self-help/inspirational variety.  Swooned would be a good word to describe how I feel about all that I am ingesting into the heart of me. I have deemed June to be #revampcamp for writing.  With eyes closed and the reckless abandon that only a housewife/homeschooling mother/business owner can muster, I am moving through month six with nothing more than my passion for connecting.  Truth real. Feelings right.

Thursday here in this space is for cheap thrills.  It's a day I have set aside to speak up about great deals and frugal finds.  But if you want honest, there is so much more action packed into my boastings of cheap.  This weekly Thursday report is very much my modus operandi for life. From my little girl beginnings, I have been moved by the less.  The image of super cool that someone else doesn't even notice.  I have much to say about the innards of what that all means to me.  Perhaps another time.  Perhaps another post.  But this whole buried treasure concept is enough apart of me that I can't let it go unknown.  Enough that I need to eek out hidden hope in the mundane.  The ordinary. Even the forgotten.  And just like my honesty with parenting and how I tend to feel I do it best, I am closing my eyes and plugging my ears to the protocol of what makes great fashion. For fashion is your hope of expression.  It's one of the many one dimensional ways you give yourself to others.  I love that it's reserved in this one dimensional time capsule.  So very much I do.  I think the world turns upside down & crooked the more we all view fashion as a 3D topic.

Today I am one dimensionally yours.  All yours, peeps.  I am sharing with you what power feels like.  And the best part?  Power feels different to each of us.  When I look into my closet, I look for what inspires me that day.  I do my very best not to consider what is popular or what is complimentary.  No, I don't even think of what colors suit me best.  I know that goes against all forms of fashionology.  I do that thing.Close my eyes.  Plug my ears.  This particular ensemble goes like so...

For the 1 Dimensional World:

  • Ann Taylor skirt:   $1.99 {Goodwill}
  • giraffe print shirt: $1.25 {Goodwill}
  • tank top: $.25 {Goodwill}
  • red sleeveless vest:  $2.99 {Goodwill}
  • Nine West coral patent leather/linen flats:  $1.00 {Goodwill}
  • infinity scarf: $4.97 {Wal-mart}

TOTAL INVESTMENT:  $12.45

For the 3 Dimensional ME:

I'm wearing my favorite color.  Coral.  I love the diversity of this hue.  It signifies happy.  Hope. Strength. It's like the chilled out-I've had a glass of wine already cousin to red.  The grosgrain bow in front of the skirt makes me smile.  Every time I look down at it, I grin.  Remember, I'm offering up truth real & feelings right.Eyes closed.  Ears plugged.  The vest add-on was so fun to do.  I love the twistiness to its design.  The detailed crocheted type netting along the back and the neckline made was a detail I couldn't deny.  While coral and red aren't a highly chosen duo, I was drawn to the 2 together.  It's like they witnessed one to the other.

"Hey coral, you got swag."

"Awe thanks, red. You're so strong and full."

Told you I was coming at you with eyes closed and ears plugged.  Who else do you know personifies clothing?  Nope, I'm not even medicated thankyouverymuch.  Combining the giraffe and striped prints was a no brainer for me.  I always look at prints like personalities. The more around the happier I am.

I take jewelry seriously.  It's one of my favorite forms of one dimensional representation.  I chose to wear my earrings from Noonday.  Purchasing from this company provides income for underprivileged women in 3rd world countries.  Check'em out.  Wearing these earrings is like one huge pep rally dangling about me all day.  I added in 2 leather bracelets I scored from Goodwill for coins and my "Meghan" bracelet that my Aunt Sharon gave me for my 12th birthday.  Um, fuhreal.  Cyclical, people.  This world we live in never goes out of style. Especially when you work to share your own with it instead of what the magazine covers tell you.

Lastly, I went for my go-to cuff.  She was all of $8.00 at a local boutique store.  She's my gurl, y'all.  She is everything I hope to be in this life.

Full.

Colorful.

Strong.

Flexible.

Widespread.

Worn out.

Worn in.

Loved.

Power.You can feel it.  When you move the muscles of you for the hope you tend to spread. Diving into Goodwill racks is just one of the ways I muster up my modus operandi for this one dimensional world.  The 3D of me is hard at work living out truth real and feelings right.  Eyes closed & ears plugged. Yeah, dawg.
